How to play
Tinyfit is a jigsaw puzzle, sudoku, and word search app for kids ages 5 to 8. Made for kindergarten through 2nd grade, it's a good fit for early readers who are still learning letters and numbers: every digit, letter, and word is read aloud, so your child can play on their own.
Everything on the screen is big and every tap does one thing. Your child doesn't have to read anything to start a puzzle.
THREE GAMES
Jigsaw: a cheerful cartoon picture is cut into large pieces that wait in a tray under the board. There are 17 pictures: a cat, a dog, a cow, a chicken, a lion, a tiger, a sheep, a deer, a dragon, a fish, a bird, a car, a train, a ship, a rocket, a castle, and a robot. The picture shows faintly on the board, and a piece snaps into place when it's dropped near its spot. When the picture is done, the voice says its name. Puzzles start with 4 pieces and grow to 6, 9, 12, and then 16.
Numbers: sudoku for kids with digits they already know. It starts on 4x4 boards, and 6x6 boards join in as your child goes along.
Words: a word search on 8x8 and 10x10 grids, built from word lists for ages 5 to 8. Each word is read aloud when it's found.
READ ALOUD, WITH CHEERS
A voice says each digit, letter, and word as it's placed or found, in English or Turkish, and cheers your child on after every solved puzzle.
NO PRESSURE, NO LOCKS
Each game is a numbered path, shown 20 puzzles at a time. Every puzzle is open from day one, and the next unsolved one is highlighted. There's no timer, no lives, no score, and no leaderboard.
Each solve earns 1 to 3 stars, and stars are never taken away. Stars depend only on hints: no hints earn 3 stars, 1 hint earns 2, and 2 or 3 hints earn 1. Every puzzle has 3 hints. Mistakes never cost a star; in sudoku, a wrong digit turns red until it's changed, and the voice gently says "Not quite."
A PARENT AREA BEHIND A PIN
The first time the app opens, a grown-up chooses a 4-digit parent PIN before your child plays. Tap the lock on the home screen and enter the PIN to open the parent area: - how many puzzles your child solved this week, and their streak - separate switches for read aloud and sound effects - the app language, English or Turkish - a way to change the PIN - the voice pack status, the privacy policy, and the version - open source licenses and picture credits
Your child never sees a settings screen or a language menu.
NO ADS, NOTHING TO BUY
Tinyfit has no ads. There are no in-app purchases, no subscription, no account, no sign-in, and no chat. The jigsaw pictures are public domain (CC0) illustrations, and every picture's source and license are credited in the app.
WORKS OFFLINE
The first launch needs the internet once to download puzzles, pictures, and voice clips. After that, Tinyfit plays offline.
YOUR CHILD'S DATA
Stars, solved puzzles, and the PIN stay on the phone. The app downloads its puzzles, pictures, and voice clips and checks for updates. If the app crashes, it sends a crash report (what went wrong and an installation ID) so the bug can be fixed. It doesn't ask for any permissions, and there's no analytics and no advertising ID.
