Room Race: Multiplayer Sudoku

How to play

Room Race is a multiplayer sudoku and nonogram party game for 2 to 8 players in the same room. Everyone gets the same puzzle at the same moment, and the first to finish wins.

You've probably got a sudoku app already. What it can't do is put the same grid on eight phones around one table, with a countdown. The puzzle is identical for everyone, so the only difference is who solves it fastest.

START A ROOM IN SECONDS

Name a room, and your friends join by scanning the QR code on your screen, typing the invite code, or opening the invite link. A room lasts longer than one race, so the same table can play again and again without inviting anyone twice. Whoever started the room hosts the races. If they step away, the person who's been in the room longest takes over. Every phone needs an internet connection.

NOBODY GETS A HEAD START

Every phone chips in to pick the puzzle at random, so the host can't choose one they've already solved. If the pick can't be checked, the race is called off.

WATCH THE RACE LIVE

While you solve, a bar for each player shows how much of their grid is right. You see everyone's progress in real time, and they see yours.

NOBODY CAN STALL THE RACE

A phone that stops responding is dropped from the draw. When someone finishes, everyone else gets the winner's time again, at least 30 seconds, to finish. Every race ends with results.

FAIR TIMING

Each phone times its own solve from its own start, so a phone that gets the start signal a second late loses nothing. Places go by solve time, not by who has the faster connection.

SUDOKU AND NONOGRAM

Both games come in several variants and difficulty levels, and every puzzle has exactly one solution. A wrong entry turns red and counts as a mistake. There are no hints, because a hint in a race is a head start.

QUICK CHAT, READ OUT LOUD

Pick a ready-made line and send it to the room. Other players' lines are read aloud, and you can turn that off in Settings. There's no typing, so nobody can send you messages you didn't ask for.

AFTER THE RACE

A leaderboard with names and profile pictures, reactions, and a results card you can share. Then it's straight back to the room for the next one.

PLAY AS A GUEST

No account needed. Sign in with a Zaparo ID, using Google or a code sent to your email, if you want your rooms and name on a new phone. Your grid never leaves your phone.

ADS

Room Race shows a banner ad on the rooms list and below the results. They can include ads from other advertisers. There's nothing to buy and no subscription.
